Continuing Saga Part IV

I'm really sorry for this big delay in keeping you all up to date on my expieriences with my J-22. I know you all look forward with much enthusiasm to find out what happens next. Especially from the number of replies I got from Part III! (00) :) Well, I have been busy, what with X-mas and all. And I have been trying to shoot up all of that ammo. It ain't been easy let me tell you! I guess the ammo came with some kind of protective coating or something. It took a lot of cleaning to get rid of it. I first tried my old "Blitz" Brass polish from my old Army days-too slow. Then tried some "Brasso", again left over from soldiering. I was using too much of the stuff and ran the store out of it. Finally just threw all the the rounds into my brass tumbler and let it run for 4 days. That seemed to help more than anything. I don't know if any of you guys have ever ran into this stuff before, but it sure does it's job as a protective coating! It's green in color and kind of gummy in texture. It kind of reminded me of that can of 30 cal. I found out on the DMZ in Korea in '68 left from the war. (Excuse me, "POLICE ACTION") Any way, I had a lot of trouble with firing this ammo in the J-22 just as I had with the CCI's. Even more! This I feel is proof(!!!) that my J-22 is in for some serious repairs or modification. The end of the shells were dented from firing pin but they failed to fire. I suspect weak firing pin spring. What do you all think? I can't think it's the ammo again because this stuff is grade A, number 1, match ammo from my own reputable dealer. He would not have sold me the stuff if it wasn't. After all, he's been such a swell guy and all through all of this. I've made up my mind. I'm taking the J-22 back to him and see if I can't talk him into reccomending a quality gunsmith in our area who will fix me up for good! I'm tired of playing games here! A fella can stand so much before he wants results. Well, that's all for now. I'll keep you all informed of what happens next as soon as I can. :) :) :)

Get rid of the JENNINGS!
You want a happy ending to that story - dump the Jennings and get something worthy.
A NAA MINI REVOLVER is in fact 100 Times BETTER than a Jennings.

LOL

Get a Kimber! It has the Jennings beat by a mile!

What? get rid of my J-22? You must be kidding me, right? This gun is perfect for me. Sure, maybe it has a few minor bugs in it, but nothing that can't be fixed. Besides, it fits me perfectly as I have really, really, really small hands! :) :)

MMMM Sounds like a gun I used to own. Other than the fact it would not fire, feed or eject it was a good gun. LLama .22 autos are on about the same par as your favorite piece Topkick.

Yo Top...........

If you find a good Jennings 'smith, have him "fluff and buff" it. I've found the best results in mine with the same .22 deathray bullets that Russian assassins used. Comes in 500 round packs and the little boxes are Camo green. Well, OK, puke green..

I have noticed that the best thing to do to get the coating off is to rinse them in gasoline. The bullets anyway, not sure about the gun..

When you get ready for an adult caliber, remind me to tell you about my Raven. It's a .25 caliber powerhouse. Heck, I've put some hurt on a 55 gallon drum at, oh, as far out as 50 feet. Course the round wouldn't penetrate, but that's another story..

LOL I have fired small .25s at Plastic 5 gallon buckets and the rounds didnt penetrate! Range? 10 paces.

Top, I think you're just spinning your wheels. All you need is a longer firing pin and asbestos/kevlar glove and 3" of plexiglas to stand behind.
I'm following your trials and tribulations closely in case I wind up with nothing constructive to do. Hell you may be the only "Saturday Night" specialist we have.
Keep up the humor ol chap!
