Contender/Encore Illegal in Massachusettes?

Contender

New member
Was at my friendly neighborhood FFL to pickup a Contender frame I purchased and noticed on the box a sticker that said "Contender and Encore not for Sale in Massachusets".

Anybody have a clarification on this? Just for FYI as I'm in NY.

By the way the "NIDCS" (National Instant Delay Check System) Pronounced NI-DIX, delayed my purchase. The FFL dealer said that he is running a 40% delay rate now. Hooray for bureacrats!

Massachusetts

most guns are now illegal to sell in Massachusetts unless the meet the A/G's strict regulations. Unless the handgun can be certified made prior to 10/98, Glocks, Berettas, HK's, Rugers etc cannot be sold.

Of course you can buy just about any Smith as they are deemed MA compliant. Others are Walther P99's, some Sigs that are designated MA compliant. Prices have shot up like crazy...used Glocks are now running 550-700 depending on model...and thats used! A Para-Ordnance P12 I was looking at used was asking 650....I see that in other states that they are asking 499 new.....

For what it is worth, Smith looks like they are getting the lions share of the new handgun sales due to just the sheer difference in price of a new Smith vs a used HK(if you can find one...700 for a used USP 9..ouch) A catch 22 for the gun shops for sure......
