Contact List : Call for Gore's Concession

Throughout history great battles have been decided in the final seconds. Wars have been won by a tired, weary and wounded few who had the tenacity to fight beyond their own endurance. Football games have been won as the scoreboard clock hit zero, by athletes who refused to quit (often beating teams who only a second before held the lead and sat back believing they had a win in the bag).

These are our heroes. Their victories are our legacies.

Now its our turn.

We are now engaged in the final moments of Election2000. We have won by the rules, won by the recounts, won by the law. Gore is behind and falling back in public opinion each day. But make no mistake, he is not out yet. Though no legitimate avenue is left to him to claim a win, legitimacy has never been Gore's path of choice. There is still time to steal this election, time to kick that last-second field goal and leave us stunned on the sidelines. We cannot, we MUST NOT let that happen. We owe it to ourselves, to our nation. We owe it to every veteran who shed his blood on the battlefield in defense of free elections. They did not quit. Now we must live up to that standard.

Stop what you are doing right now and contact Vice President Al Gore and let him know it is time to concede the election. Contact Democratic leaders and make it abundantly clear that this disregard for the law will only damage the DNC and smear the integrity of Democratic candidates for years to come. Point out that if they do not stand publicly against one man's incessant ambition, that they will prove themselves "Just another Al Gore". That is a taint they do not want. A politician fears for nothing more than his own job, and we need to make it clear that nothing less is at stake.

One letter can carry the statistical weight of up to 10,000 citizens. Remember a fax or a phone call carries more weight than e-mails. Hand written letters are best as they do not look mass-produced, but fax them if possible as they need to arrive right away. I am committing to contact everybody on this list. I don't have to be eloquent or rude or inspirational... I just have to be clear. "AL GORE SHOULD CONCEDE TODAY - THE VOTERS WILL REMEMBER".

There is nothing in my life that is so important that I cannot give up an hour or two for my country. If I work late today, it is a small service given the sacrifice of those who died to give me this right. When the final whistle blows, I know that I will be on the front line swinging with all my might. I could use your help. We have done so much and worked so hard, we need only take the line one last time and give it all we have. Coaches call this "gut check time" - the time you look inside and really find out what you're made of. The moment you will look back on with pride, or view forever with the regret of "if only I tried a little harder..."

Forward this message to all of your friends. Pick up your pen, fire up your fax, dial the phone while you write. Fight like the integrity of the nation is at stake... because it is.

I'll see all of you at the victory party when the smoke clears.
