Confused over which 45 S&W to buy

I am thinking about purchasing either a S&W 625 45 lc or a S&W Model 22 case hardened 45 acp.The 625 is $450.00 ,the Model 22 is $750.00.They are both used revolvers, they both have internal locks. My question is I would like some feed back on; (a) is 45lc better than 45acp? (b)Which ammo is readily more available?and (c)Which S&W has less recoil? Appreciate your feed back:

Either round, Colt 45 or the 45 acp are a great round to shoot. The 45 acp are everywhere to be found, not so for the LC. The Colt 45 are very expensive to shoot. The price of the Colt 45 is what got me into reloading. So if you're not in to reloading I'd go for the Model 22 45acp. Buy 20 or so moonclips and pre load them before going to the range and have some fun.

My S&W model 22 is a fine revolver and follows me to the range everytime I go. I don't have a S&W 625 Colt 45, all of mine are single action, but really like the $450 price you can get one for.

Which one?

Ahoy!

I have a M1917 S&W, it is a gem for sure! The good thing about it is that as mentioned the .45acp rounds are everywhere. Plus, you can use the .45 auto rim cartridge. Cheap to shoot especially with hand loads. MHO.

The 45 Colt probably offers a bit more flexibility with the bullet weights and charges. But the 45 ACP is, and always has been, a fine cartridge in it's own right. Since I load both, I'd have to toss a coin.

I don't want to add a caliber to buy or load for, no .45 Colt for me.
I don't want a big husky revolver like that limited to fixed sights. No Model 22 for me, especially with the blotchy mess of color case hardening which no previous model of S&W has ever had.

So my answer is "Neither of the above." and I would be looking for a 625 .45 ACP.

The model 22 feels much slimer and more compact that you might suspect. I own it's brother the model 21 (mines Nickel) and it has become one of my all time favorite handguns. More accurate than I am and smooth as glass.

625-2 if you can find one but any 625 model will have a full underlug. Makes it feel like a big .38 when fired. The early 625 barrels are the most accurate barrels S&W ever made.
