Concealed Carry preferences?

So I live in NH and I just got a CC permit, which is actually really easy. As of right now I don't plan on CCing but if I decide to which handgun should I use? I have a Colt 1911 double eagle, a H&K USP 45 Expert, a Beretta m9, a Smith&Wesson 627 .45 (out of the question) and a SIG Trailside .22 (also out of the question)

Of the guns you listed, with a high end gun belt and holster, the 1911 would probably be the easiest to carry and conceal. One of my first carry guns was a 5" 1911. I used a Gary Brommeland Max Con V IWB holster on a 1.5" bullhide belt from thebeltman.net. After a day of playing with the exact position, it was a snap. Other than my little snub in my pocket, I can't think of a gun that was easier for me to carry. Nice and thin.

As for the 627, it is possible. Again, with high quality gear. Though it really isn't an every day carry gun. I carry a 4" N Frame now and then, summer or winter. I shoot it better than any other handgun, so it gets the nod if I'm visting a town down the road with a much higher crime rate than my local parts.

yeah no doubt i was thinking an IWB holster and maybe adding a Sig or H&K compact. im pretty thin so either the 1911 or the m9 to get as little printing as possible

I think it's time to get another gun or two.

I have carried a 1911 in winter and it worked fine. Not sure It'd go over with summer wear.

You don't necessarily need a belt or holster to carry. There are other alternatives that you may find simpler, easier, and more comfortable, and that would let you carry any of those guns easily and interchangeably with similar ease.

I have carried the 627 on a shoulder holster in the winter (both days of it :D). I have also carried it OWB at 3:30 behind my right hip with a LONG shirt.

Normally, I just carry my 340pd. I have also started carrying my .380 with an IWB tuckable, which is very comfortable. A 1911 with the an IWB tuckable should be very doable.

Pull out the debit/Visa...

If it were me, I'd say; Z; none of the handguns listed & go buy a NIB pistol in .40S&W, .357sig(ideal) or 9x19mm.
A slick compact semi auto with a hammer fired DA only system. Like a PX4 Storm C format, a P220 Carry/DAK .45acp, a HK45c LEM, or a P239 DAK in .40/.357sig.
The big M9/92FS 9x19mm could work but trust me, a 92/96 size pistol is a real #*+•% after a few hours.
A simple S&W 442/642 .38spl J frame or a Ruger LCR could be great too.

If I carry ...and its not often ....but I carry a 5" 1911 ...when I choose to.

A 1911 is not a bad option ...especially with a good holster like a Kramer horsehide IWB ...

yeah when i get some more money and if i choose to start carrying regularly then ill probably invest in a smaller compact in a .40 or maybe a .45. ive grown up on .45s and ive never shot a .380 so i wouldnt feel as comfortable with it for self defense if the occasion arose. i wouldnt carry a revolver for self defense because theres only 6 shots and its pretty bulky. how much for a good .40 or .45 compact thats easy to conceal but still packs some power. also i dont want to have to pay out the wazoo for ammo, even though thats getting to be inevitable

In my opinion, you really need to get to a range...and shoot as many guns - and different models - as you can ....

what is a good gun, what is affordable, what is a good caliber...really depends on what fits your hands the best....not all revolvers are bulky ...and yes, most of them are only 6 shots....but a lot of experts will tell you its "defense" ...not the gunfight at the OK corral...and it will probably be over in 10 sec or less ...and in less than 3 rounds...

What you want to own....what you want to carry ....is different for each of us ...

I'm not going to tell you, you're a fool if you don't carry a high end 1911 like a Wilson in .45 acp ...( or a Sig is the cheapest gun I'd ever carry or whatever, or only carry an XD or whatever ) ....because it doesn't matter what I choose to carry ....

Carry what you shoot the best.../ buy what you can afford to train with ...and if its a 9mm ...with all of the great defensive ammo these days in 9mm...its not a bad choice....you don't have to go to a .40S&W or a .45 acp...just because some of us do ..../ you have to choose based on what you shoot the best...

It actually sounds like a single stack 9mm may be the best all around gun, given your criteria and desire for more affordable ammo. Something along the lines of the Kahr offerings or the Ruger LC9. All handguns are relatively weak, and honestly there isn't enough difference between the major medium and big bore calibers to sweat it (.40, 9mm, .38 Spl, .357 Magnum, .45, etc). But, as always, try to test one out before you buy. Compact guns, revolver and/or autos, aren't for everyone.

yeah its like i said i feel most comfortable with a full size .45 because thats what ive been shooting for a long time. the first .45 put in my hands was when i was in the 4th or 5th grade i think. itll definately be awhile before i buy a new gun or really have a chance to cc because ill be going off to school in the fall where i would absolutely not have a weapon in my possession because you never know what someone else is going to do. i was just trying to get some opinions and find out if i could cc with my m9

For EDC, I think in terms of "serviceable, and comfortable".

For my ccw, I wanted 9mm, slim, a thumb safety, and a pinky extension on the grip. I dislike "2 finger" guns. With this stuff in mind, I wound up with a Ruger LC9. The DAO trigger is zero fun, but the gun gets the job done within 7 yards, can be carried in Condition 2 (allowing me the full 8 rounds to work with), and is very comfortable to carry.

A Smith & Wesson 627 .45?? 627s are .357mags.

I'd carry the Double Eagle but you might have trouble finding an appropriate holster to fit it.

:eek::confused:

You are advising someone to carry a weapon without a holster?

Please elaborate on your alternatives.

I would NEVER advise the carrying of any weapon even a Jframe without a holster of some sort and I find it difficult to carry a weapon with any weight, without a belt other than in a shoulder holster.

I am interested to hear of your alternatives.

To the OP:

Most of your choices are on the large size for CCW. It can be done, but there are probably alternatives that would be easier.
