I live in Texas and am a Texas resident with a CHL. I am flying to Colorado in November and want to take my handgun in my checked luggage. With proper notification of the airlines, etc, is it ok to ship my handgun to Colorado? confused:

Follow the airline/TSA Rules and you will have no problem with declaring it in checked baggage in a locked container and then lock your suitcase with a TSA approved lock.

Your permit is valid in Colorado as long as you have a Texas ID with it.

Allow a little extra time to check in with the TSA stuff and a firearm in your bag when you arrive at the airport for the trip up and trip back thru Denver.

http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig10/ollam1.html has a good overview of traveling with guns. Make sure you review your airlines requirements, they mostly all vary.

This a case where you do not use a TSA lock. Get a hard side suitcase and lock it with a lock only you have the key to. Some airlines allow you to place a locked hard gun case inside another suitcase (as quoted above) but it is not recommended and not allow by some airlines.

Where you gonna be in Colorado? If your North of Denver we could get together for a shoot;)

Always happy to welcome visitors from Texas
