Concealed carry advice

I want to start CC. I want something 9mm cause thats the most abundant ammo in my area. .380, .32 and .38 are sorta hard to come by

What guns are best for pocket carry?

How much difference does an inch make?

Im looking at the CZ rami, which is 6.6in L x 4.7in H x 1.3in Thick
compared to the kel tec pf-9 which is 5.85 x 4.3 x .88!

Keltec also has a clip you can attach to your gun for IWB carry compared to having to get a holster for the rami

but i read the keltec has a DA trigger pull like a mule, and the rami has a hammer, decocker and safety, which i like, plus its a CZ.

if there are any other carry guns in 9mm, id like to know.
I know about the glock 26, and i may consider it if i become a firearms handling pro, and the sig 239, which is too much for what i want to spend on a CC gun. $700 is too much.

Of the 2 firearms mentioned, the CZ would get my vote. Left to my own devices, I went with the following for the "small" category:

Glock G26/33
Smith and Wesson model 442 revolver.

Good luck.

The Kahr PM9 is theasiest to pocket carry.

This link should give you a look at a nice comparison of small guns.

The link is to a pdf which illustrates five 9mm "pocket guns".
The shortest in length is 5.2" and the longest is 5.85".
The smallest in height is 3.7" and the greatest is 4.4".
The smallest in width is 0.88" and the greatest in width is 1.3".

A S&W J-frame revolver is listed with the dimensions of:
Overall Length: 6.31"
Height: 4.49" (estimated)
Width: 1.25"

Obviously an inch added to the width of a gun would make a huge difference.
I have lately become interested in getting a Kahr.

Heard good things about Khars.

Although I haven't SHOT one, I have picked up, held and dry-fired Kel-tec 9MMs and I didn't think they were that bad, and they are SMALL.

Availability of ammo should not be high on your list when considering a CCW. I carry a S&W 442. Even though .38 and .38 +p is not readily available, I have no problem finding it locally and online. I purchase inexpensive 38 and 38 +P to practice. I buy the premium Gold Dot HP and save it for carry.

My primary consideration for a CCW is realiabiltiy. Revolvers win that contest. Pull the trigger and it goes bang. If not, pull the trigger again. Semi-autos not only have to cycle rounds into the chamber, but the slide must have room to move. That can be difficult if you are grappling with an assailant. Up close combant by it's nature is close and tight. Self defense situtations are often up close and personal.

I chose the 442 in my carry rotation because it is reliable, no hammer to snag, good firepower and concealable in my pocket.

Also, dimensions are one thing, but you do not seem to consider wieght for pocket carry. A heavier gun is not so comfortable.

The famous stiff KelTec trigger is on the P11. The PF9 has the lighter trigger from the P3AT.

You're not going to pocket carry the RAMI, that's for sure. As mentioned look at the PF9, Kahr PM9 or similar.

The Kel tec pf 9 or the P11.

The trigger is stiffer on the P11, but buy the trigger shoe and install it and it really helps out.

I don't even notice it any more.

I carry a Kahr CW9. It's a half-polymer gun so it's a lot lighter than all steel. Honestly for a full grown person I feel like it's about the smallest I can go and still be comfortable aiming/shooting it. I haven't had any reliability issues out of it. It does need a good 200 round break in. It's very, very tight/stiff when you get it new. It's so thin you can pocket carry it but not SO small that shooting 9mm out of it is annoying/awkward. I think all those little mouse guns are super awkward to shoot. I'm not a big guy. I'm 5'9" with probably medium size hands for a guy but even for me those little kel-tecs and sub-compacts are just too small for me to shoot well. I can hit stuff with them but it takes more concentration and follow up shots are a pain.

Kahr MK9.

Smaller than a J-Frame, 9mm, 6+1 capacity, disappears in a pocket holster.

All stainless so recoil isn't too bad.

I pocket carry a Kel-tec PF-9 and it works very well for that purpose. It isn't a range gun that you'll enjoy punching paper with. But it's a compact lightweight 9mm that's easy to conceal. Perfect for pocket carry.

Hey Greyson ... I'm over in Lago Vista ... been carrying a Kahr PM9 in a pocket holster for several years and it's the perfect size ... it's at the upper end of the price scale but the quality and accuracy can't be beat, for my money ... been perfect since new, eats almost any kind of ammo (mine it loaded with the new Hornady Critical Defense rounds) ...

I guess I don't understand the smaller/lighter firearm crowd. Kind of like cell phones, some are so small I can't even use them right!

I want to know at all times that my firearm is there and it's enough firearm to do the job properly. Lots of people carry compacts and even full size auto's. Mouseguns are not my preference, but out of the ones you listed go with the CZ. :)

I bought a Rami alloy. Although I like the gun, that I bought for carry. I don't like to carry it because it's just to thick. So I got a S&W J-frame Airweight for pocket carry.

I have a CZ Rami 9mm and it is not a pocket carry gun. It's thick and heavy. Don't get me wrong. It's a great gun, it's just to big and too heavy for a pocket. A pocket carry gun has to be small and light. The Ruger LCP and the Kel-tec's that it copied are good examples. Have you considered Inside the Waistband carry. IWB opens up a whole universe of carry options. With IWB you can move up to a larger weapon and use the pocket gun as a backup weapon. Just a thought. (Woops. Better forget the Ruger, it's a 380)
