Concealed Carry Advice for Dick Special

I'm wanting to carry my Detective Special but I am having a hard time coming up with carry locations that I am comfortable with. I carry my Colt 1911 in an IWB, strong side right, but the Dick Special is just too thick for an IWB holster. Galco is my favorite holster company and have carried many of their models over the years. I had looked at a behind the back and crossdraw holsters but I would like some advice from the great minds at work on this wonderful site. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks.

I carry my Colt Cobra, nearly the same revolver as your Dick Special, in an IWB Ez Carry holster from El Paso Saddlery. It has been a pretty comfortable rig for me. I usually don't carry for extended times with this rig. I usually just slip this on for short trips to the store etc. I have also thought about a pocket holster for a coat pocket in the winter. Anyway, I hope your Special is as accurate as my Cobra. I have been amazed by it's accuracy.

Probably didn't help you much, but good luck!

I have no difficulty with my Colt Agent in either an IWB rig (a cheap-o suede one), a DeSantis hard leather pocket holster, a SmartCarry, or an OWB rig (I have a few). I'm sure you'll figure something out. :)

A simple and super-cheap way to carry any odd gun IWB is the 'string' holster. Two versions exist. The simplest is a string with two loops that fit around your belt; the space between the loops just wide enough for the gun to fit. Slip the gun into that space and tuck it inside the trouser band with the string behind the gun. This holds it from slipping down further. Best for autos.
Even better for any gun but especially revolvers: a string with ONE belt loop, and on the other end, a short length of non-metallic rod (I've used hollow upholstery stiffeners, an inch or so long and about 1/4" dia., anything resembling a short length of drinking straw or even a dowel will do.) Length between the belt loop and rod adjusts to fit the distance between the muzzle of the gun and the point you want it to appear above the belt line. Shove the string around or through a hole in the rod and knot it...slip the rod into the muzzle of the gun and shove the whole business into your waistband. Holds well, impedes the draw not at all.
If you sweat and carry blued guns, this has drawbacks. And, of course, you don't see these 'expedient' carry techniques in the gun rags...no way to make money off of them.
