Concealable non-compact 9mm?

Looking for a striker-fired 9mm for hd and ccw. I really like shooting mid-size/service size handguns for comfort as well as capacity. What non-compact handguns do you carry? I like the 4 inch XD models, m&p's, and glocks, just not sure on what most people consider too big to carry. I'm 5'8" 155lb if that would factor into it a lot.

I alternate between a PPQ M2, Sig Emperor Scorpion Carry 1911 (it's commander sized), and a Sphinx SDP Compact.

We are pretty much the same size. I carry a P07 which is a mid sized gun. Just carry IWB and wear a slightly larger shirt.

When I first started carrying, I carried a full size M&P and later a Glock 17. Just be aware of the changes you might need to make to the clothes you wear to accommodate the gun.

A glock 19 is about as light and compact you'll find in a 15+1 capacity pistol(I've looked at many measurements and weights on many firearms to compare against it). When I weighed 145 pounds when I was younger, I concealed my Glock 23 owb at 3 o'clock easily.

Taurus pt99 in a I-Tac (belt)
(I think Itac is defunct now, I believe they're sigtac)

It will print at times with just a t-shirt, of course you could toss a vest on and who's the wiser?
eh.. well I just seen a guy in walmart the other day with a vest on a warm day wearing a NRA hat.. that guy packing? didn't see it but shocked if it he wasn't.

Browning Hi Power 9mm, Sphinx SDP, Glock 19 & Sig P228.

However your question is a bit misleading because a gun like a 4" XD, Glock, Sig etc is a compact gun. It is not a subcompact gun but if you look at their catalog most people would call a Glock 19 a compact gun while a 26 is a sub compact.

I like and own most of what's been mentioned. Another suggestion is the FNS compact. About G19-sized with 12+1 capacity, but also comes with a 17-round magazine. The smaller mag is great for carry. When you get home, just pop the full 17-rounder in for home defense.

I sometimes carry a full size 1911 but it's a .45, as you know, they are also chambered in 9mm, .38S, .40

It is heavy but very flat compared to some others. The single stack grip frame with a flush fit mag sits snug. The right belt and holster is key. I don't like IWB holsters for 1911s but some do...I prefer a pancake, but all pancake holsters are not created equal.

Thet new CZ P-10 C really fits the bill and I'd want to try one out before I made an ultimate decision here.

5'7"/215# (I hit the gym a lot lol), and I rotate between a CZ 100, CZ P-07, and Glock 23. At times I have carried my Beretta Cougar or full-size PX4 as well.

If you like the size of the Glock 19 but are on a budget check out the S&W SD9VE. They can be had for around $350. I have one and it has never had one single misfeed or failure to fire. It has been 100% perfect. Here is a favorite video on them.

Academy Sports has their own version with enhanced sights and sometimes sells them for $300 plus tax.

Here ya go.

I'm bigger than you at 6' & 210lbs, I can carry a Springfield XD9 with the 4" barrel and standard 16 round mag without anyone noticing. In my fat days I even pocket carried it in a pinch and no one noticed. I have a comp tac "C Tac" holster for it that I feel really helps as it spreads the weight of the gun out. It is definitely do able but weighing the pros and cons and factoring in my lifestyle and likelihood of needing it I am comfortable with a smaller single stack.

I regularly carry a Taurus PT709, but before I had that I carried the XD without a problem. I still carry it on road trips or in the woods.

Really it's all about your gear when it comes to CCing a midsized/full size gun. A good rigid belt and good holster will let you carry a bigger gun more easily and discreetly than a small gun and cheapo gear.

Yung.gunr is absolutely correct - I use a High Noon Down Under IWB to conceal a full size CZ SP-01 Phantom. I have also been known to use a High Noon Close Encounter hybrid IWB with my CZ P-09, both holsters riding on a High Noon Rock Steady gun belt, concealed under an over sized t-shirt. Good rigs/belts make the difference.

Glock 19 with the right holster.
I'm picky about not printing, regardless of legality or whether anyone would notice if they briefly quit looking at the phone, just cause do it right.
That being said, I've carried a Glock 19 appendix IWB and strong side IWB (forward cant) wearing a loose fitting untucked shirt.

Right now I'm on a P320 kick. I carry the Compact (mid size, not subcompact). I also love the Glock 19, PPQ, VP9, and M&P series. Plus the new FN 509 and CZ P10 look great, although they're quite new and hard to find.

I am 5' 10" ~200 lbs. and I carry and have carried a 6" 357 my entire adult life. When I started carrying I was 21 and about 160 lbs. I started carrying in a pancake holster (I had to make it because everyone said you couldn't carry a 6" revolver in a pancake holster). After going through some training I found that the pancake holster, or any belt holster, had positions where the gun was not accessible. Like sitting and especially sitting in a car with the seat belt on. So I made a shoulder holster and have worn a shoulder holster for the last 30+ years.
I do have a shoulder rig and a belt holster for my 9mm full size all steel gun but I am not ready to use it as a self defense gun yet. Even with the belt holster it is easily concealable. The weight doesn't bother me and after a day at the range I will forget that I have it on. The gun is a CZ 75B and I hear that it is too heavy or too big to carry concealed. I'm approaching 70 and I have a bad back yet it is quite comfortable as is the big Ruger Security-Six revolver that I have always worn. It might be that all those years back-packing through the mountains made me less aware of the weight of a gun but really, 2 to 2-1/2 pounds is not much weight.

My suggestion is to find a gun you shoot well and then put it in a holster that is comfortable and accessible. You just never know when you are going to need a gun and you might as well have one that you can shoot well instead of one that is too small for your hand and you can't shoot well.

My thoughts exactly.

Im 5' 6", 165#, and have carried full sized handguns my whole life. Most of that was with a Colt GM or Commander, or a SIG P226/229 at 4:30. The past decade or so, its a Glock 17, and for the past 6 years or so, AIWB. I wish Id switched to AIWB long ago, its so much easier and a lot quicker.

I have no troubles what so ever carrying my 17 under an untucked , normal sized tee shirt in the summer, and thats the 17, a reload, and a fixed blade knife.
