After a year or so of carrying various Gerber folding blades, I'm looking into a quality fixed blade to wear strongside IWB(as I can't carry a handgun). I'm unconvinced of my ability to get to a pocketed folder quickly if needed. I looked at Cold Steel but in addition to their Tantos being to long(under 4") I was shocked at the price. Anyone know of a good fixed blade, under 4" for $100 or less, along with a good Kydex type knife sheath that can be clipped IWB? And a good book or a way to aproach a martial arts instructor to recive intruction on it's proper use?

Have you checked out Columbia River Knives? They make some VERY good and inexpensive knives. They have a small selection of fixed blades that are pretty easy to hide. They come with a Kydex sheath. http://www.crkt.com/
If you alos look at http://www.wilsoncombat.com you will see he has one fixed blade knife made to be carried IWB in a kydex holster.
