Looking for the smallest, lightest, most concealable frame for a 6 shot wheel gun, will be used as a BUG. Must be .38 or .357, and it has to be 6 or more shot. Open to all suggesstions. Smith and Wesson model 66/ 19 has caught my eye. Will be used for ankle carry as BUG, and hip carry during Spring/Fall months.

Thanks for any suggesstions.

Colts are about the smallest sixshooters and can even be found with hammer shrouds. Detective Special, Cobra, Agent, SF VI, DS 2, Carry Magnum. Cobra and Agent are the lightweights

Smith & Wesson M12 Airweight M&P .38 is very portable and shootable, but kind of bulky for ankle wear. They are making a 7 shot Scandium-Aluminum-Titanium L-frame .357 that is painfully light but even bulkier.

None but the last are in production, haunt the gunshows, secondhand counters, and online ads.

I have a great S&W Model 64 with a two inch barrel, although IMO it is a little heavy for duty as a BUG. I often carry it off duty when I am around the water or in the woods.

Rossi makes a 2 inch barrel .357 six shot that looks and feels like a Colt Detective Special but has Smith and Wesson type cylinder latch. Smaller than 6 shot Smith. I think it is in Taurus line up now Rossi is often a very poorly made handgun but the one I tested was very, very good, comparable to any Colt I have tested. Might take a look at a few of these. The grips really made for easy shooting as well.

My 2" S&W M10-11 round butt is a neat CCW main or a BUG. I put a set of Heritage wood grips on mine. 6 Hydra-Shoks in the cylinder and 6 more in HKS K speedloader.

Ever heard of....

Have you every heard of a Ruger PS-101?
It is about the size of a "J" frame S&W and comes in 22, 32 and .357 Magnum. It's VERY CONSEALABLE!
