Conceal Carry revolver (favorites)?

I'm partial to wheel guns myself :) and think it would be my choice for carry, but considering weight and frame (and caliber of course), what are some revolvers y'all prefer carrying, either as primary or back-up.

This is a recent purchase of mine and it is rapidly becoming a favorite. If you have never carried a pocket gun, give it a shot. It is the most comfortable way to carry I have ever tried. Not very fast to present, but as a deep carry gun or a back up, it is great.

Smith & Wesson old model 60 in .38 Special, or a S&W 642-2 also in .38
Special. I carry both in an old Bianchi IWB at 4 o'clock, with the greatest
of ease. One other option I have, is a 2" S&W model 10 (six shot); but I
don't currently have leather to fit it!

Best Wishes,

I used to carry two S&W J frames in 3" 38 Special RB M36 form. My favourite was a Colt Lawman MKIII in 2" 357 Magnum RB form. I carry a M10 38 Special 2" RB for my evening walks.

Taurus, Smith or Ruger (SP101) .32 mag (.32 H&R Mag) - only six shot around in a small frame format--everyone else has gone 5 shot .38/357 etc., in anything you'd consider a handy-sized package. Your choice depending on company/model of hammer/hammerless and stainless or lighter weight, etc. Said to have punch of a "regular" .38, but less recoil and again, typ smaller format. No, doesn't have the punch of a +P or .357, so if you need that oomph, if you wish then, yes you can call this a backup concealed carry. Ammo not particularly plentiful or cheap, but then again you're not using this for plinking-so suck it up. As another thread pointed out, .32 ACP seemed to work for that (plinking) purpose -- I think "not ideal but also not dangerous" is how they put it, as does .32 S&W Short, Long, etc. Anyway, nothing handier in a revolver configuration. Think of these revolvers as as a "more reliable" (for cc/spontaneous defense purposes) .380 auto or .32 ACP. with better pow than you might think.

Carried a S&W 442 for several years until I got my hands on a S&W 342PD. Sold the 442, for what I paid for it, and bought the 342. It wieghts 10.2 ozs and I carry it everyday. Only gun I usually carry. My back up is the shotgun at home.

vS&W model 49

Carried it my boot for many years, grip over the top. Worked very well. Use a Kimber IWB now. My wife carries my 49 in a neat holster I made for her right after Christmas..She loves them both........mutt

I haven't recently carried a revolver for CCW duty; I used to own a Taurus M85 snub nosed .38 but sold it years ago.

That said, I am now seriously considering have some work done to a Ruger SP101 I own & use it for OWB CCW carry.

This is my rig:

S&W 66-2 loaded with Win 145gr. silver-tips, a speedloader and a speed strip, and a Galco FL112 holster. It works really well for me.

Well... there sure are a lot of nice guns, suitable for carry. Depending on the day, whether carry would be pocket or holster, I might choose one of about five models to carry. These are two of the world's best, small carry guns:

dilligaf, i too own a 651 and its mighty sweet. great trigger and excellent accuarcy. however, it was a bit hefty for me to pocket carry, many find otherwise. i now carry a 342 and i love it. im not as acurate with it as i am with the 651 but it gets the job done. carrying it is a dream, when you let up on the weight of the gun then you dont mind carrying the 2 extra speedloaders. btw, the 651, for me, was great iwb.

All good stuff guys!

That S&W 642 looks pretty nice, but it reminds me of the LadySmith I got my wife; nice and light but the action feels kind of long and there's significant "kick" even with .38's.

What's the kick like with .357 on such a light small frame?

Those beautiful wooden grips on the S&W's look nice---until you confront a situation where you begin to sweat like a feline excreting sharp metal fragments. Put some rubber grips on them puppies and they will still be ready when you palms are wet.

I carried a .38spl 640 stoked with 125gr +P's for years in a Galco pocket holster. Great setup for the hot summers here. That with a couple speed strips in the left hand pocket and I was happy.

Old Charter Arms early 80's still ticking Target 158gr lswc Carry 158 lswchp +P Put on new CA rubber grips last year.

I have a 640 in 357 and a 442 in 38 Spec., not rated for +P. I mostly carry the latter because of the light weight. I actually owned the 640 first, but got the 442 (this was in pre-scandium days) because I found myself leaving the 640 at home too much of the time, didn't like the weight. The new scandium guns are certainly great, I'd love to have one, but am content for now with what I've got.....not to mention that I get a bit of sticker shock every time I check one out in a gun shop.
