Conceal carry pistols

What pistols for conceal carry do you guys recommend? Something under 25oz and no more than 5.75 long that is reliable and can depend on if your life came down to it?

Thats a really broad question so expect a wide variety of answers. I would and always recommend a Glock 26 for concealment and home duties due to magazine capacity options and proven Glock reputation. However there are a lot of other good options out there. This would be closely followed by a subcompact XD series pistol.

I currently have sig238 .380 but am in the market for another piece around the same neighborhood in size maybe a 9mm. I was eyeballing a kahr pm9 but want to know if there are other options

Small concealed pistols....

Depending on your budget & skill level, I'd look into a Ruger LCR .357magnum revolver with a CT lasergrip, a Beretta PX4 sub-compact in 9x19mm or .40, a Ruger SR9c 9mm, a M&P compact(with safety) in .357sig or 9x19mm or .40, a LEM format HK P2000sk in .357sig or .40 or 9x19mm, a SIG P225 9mm(P6), a P228R in 9x19mm, a P239 DAK with night sights & a CT lasergrip in .357sig or 9x19mm.
Night sights(Novak type) & laser aimers-compact white lights are worth it for protection/carry. New units are small and green lasers like Viridian are available. Crimsontrace, www.crimsontrace.com has been around for a long time.
I'd avoid the small .380acp caliber but many like it. I read a NRA article that showed many newer .380acp pistols had jams or problems with hollow point/defense rounds. :(
The .38spl +P is a long time carry-defense caliber too. A lightweight DA only .38spl/.357magnum sidearm can be useful & compact.

ps; don't forget about the larger but concealed carry caliber .44spl too. A .357sig is the best for a DA only/striker pistol IMO.

+1 on the KLCR .357!

It's on my list to buy this year! It will make a great backup weapon and coat pocket gun. I think I'll just carry two Speedstrips, both with five rounds of
.357 for my reloads, should do just fine.

Seecamp in .32 acp or .380. Rohrbaugh in 9mm. Some S&W alloy J-frame. Kahr PM9. There are a number of small, light options.

Bersa Thunder CC (Conceal Carry) .380 acp.....For the money spent, best value.

It's a slight smaller in size than the standard Bersa Thunder pistol, and still holds 8 shots.....I load mine with Federal Hydra Shock JHP. Never had a problem.

Rohrbaugh fans say the R9 is the only "true" pocket auto in a major caliber (9mm). Or the phrase that some gun experts have coined to describe them "Micro-matics"

But I think the Kahr PM9 and CM9 are also poket pistols.

The DB9 is small enough form-factor wise but I wouldn't bet my life on it. The same can be said of the Solo - I wouldn't bet my life on it.

I think you'd be looking at a Micro-matic like a Rohrbaugh, or a Kahr or you'd be looking at a snubbie.

I recommend something under 25oz and no more than 5.75 inches in length.

;)

Seriously though, for those specifications there are piles of choices.

Those limitation put your considerations in the "really small handgun" arena.
http://www.mouseguns.com/PocketAutoComparison.pdf This link shows some available handguns in the range you specify.

The only two handguns I own that fall within the limitations are the S&W model 60 .38 special and the Kahr PM40. I prefer the PM40. Both are reliable and would suffice. I like that the Kahr is slimmer, has one more round and shoots a heavier .400" bullet v a lighter .357" bullet at about the same velocity.

From the sounds of it a J frame sized revolver or P 11 Kel-Tec type of self loader is about what you may be looking for. Personally I use a S&W 442 or a 642 in a pocket holster for revolver carry ( I like the hammerless for easy draw) in auto it will be a Walther PPKS or Kel-Tec P 11 9m/m with 12 round mags.

Tuff Products, Bianchi speed strips...

A big +1 for the revolver speed strips or "quik strips". ;)
tuff products markets the polymer round holders in more than just .38spl or .357magnum.
I've used Bianchi speed strips off & on since 2004.
They are cheap & conceal well too.
