Compstocks?

I'm considering a compstock (knoxx.com) on my Mossberg 500, am wondering if anyone has any experience with these. Supposed to cut felt recoil by better than half. Any thoughts? TIA http://knoxx.com/product/compstock.html

Addendum; Sorry guys, shoulda used the search feature before posting. Found the previous threads on the subject, am ordering my stock tomorrow.

You will be amazed at how much the recoil is reduced, thus making for a more enjoyable day at the range. I went through 350 slugs last time out and walked away without a hurt in the world. Its money well spent ;)

Um, since we're talking about Compstocks - I just ordered one from www.ultout.com for my mossey 590 for $32 !!
Just so you know, that seems to be about $100 less then you pay straight from Hogue. Amazing - I called to make sure we were talking about the same thing - owner is simply passing on a great deal he got on them. Tells me these guys have integrity...

Thats exactly what I have, a Remington 870 marine magnum. The compstock for the 870 fits like a glove. The installation is easy. Dont worry about it. Get it and you wont be sorry :D

I checked out those prices over on ultout, and they sure do look good. If the customers are generous this weekend, I might just get one and do a T&E. Maybe Frankenstein needs an upgrade(G)....

Holy crap! For $32 bucks I'm ordering one to play with. I was hesitant at $150, but even if I hate the compstock I can easily resell it at that price. :)

My Compstock is on the way.

For a little range report, I'll have some different folks fire some buckshot & slugs with and with out the new stock. Get some opinions. For the sake of science you know. :D

I'm hopeful it'll be waiting for me after work. For as big as it is, that 590 beats the crap outta my shoulder - looking forward to the compstock making it a gun I'll enjoy shooting...

ACK!

I went to buy it and they raised the dern price!!! It's $57 dern dollars now! I think I'll just pass it up for now... I like abuse. I prefer firing my M70 with the BOSS CR instead of the muzzle brake. What a wake up call!

is that price for real? did everyone who ordered one get theirs (that is, of those who ordered long enough ago)?

ultout is for real

Just got my compstock for 870.
it's complete and new in display package:) :D
I've always liked the compstock on my 1300 Defender, now I can stock my Remi the same way for cheap!!!

Update:

I have gotten the compstock, and 2 870s. Both 870s are pretty much identical. 18 inch riot barrel, 2 shot extension. One of the 870s will be equipped with the factory wood. The other will wear the compstock.

I will be taking them both to the Utah TFL shoot on April 13th where I can get a good cross section of suckers...err... volunteers to test both guns side by side, using slug, buck, & bird.

My plan is to get a group of shooters with experience levels from beginner to mack-daddy (technical term, I know) and have them shoot a couple of strings for time. I will also solicit their opinions on the comfort of both guns.

I got my Compstock for the 590 and took it to the range last weekend - just did not have time to post before now.

First off fired some birdshot...recoil felt the same -Compstock did not seem to be compressing. Actually, the thicker rubber at the end of the Compstock *was* marginally more comfortable then the stock, well, stock.

Next I fired some 00 buck...and it felt like the birdshot did. I noticed the Compstock started compressing with the heavier loads. Finished off with a few magnum slugs...once again, felt like birdshot.

I could get used to this :D
