compromise ccw pistol.

I'm looking for a pistol small enough for all day carry concealed, light enough not to be noticeable, has REAL sights, and is accurate to full size gun standards. Does such a creature exist? I was thinking of a design that is single stacked and in a caliber no larger than 9mm. Any suggestions?

Jeebus! You don't want much do you ;)

I'd say a Kahr P9 Covert would be pretty close to doing what you want.

H&K P7 would fit the bill quiet well also. Although it is a little heavy. I carry mine in a Alessi talon and it carries fine. Just wish the holster had a loop instead of the clip. I wonder if i could get it changed some way.

I'd have to go with the Kahr P9 also. Kahr is coming out with an MP9 soon which is even smaller and lighter if you're willing to wait. I'll be buying one myself but not till they work the inevitable first run bugs out.

I'll recommend the HK P7, but depending on what you want it for I'm flexible. The few downsides to the P7 are that it is relatively expensive (though sub $1000 is not as uncommon as some think. avg is about 1K), and it is relatively heavy. Get a good holster and you'll be fine.

The P7 has a full size 4.13" barrel, 8+1 rds 9mm, 5" high 6.54" Long 1.14" wide, sight radius 5.83". Bigger than the Kahr, but it has greater capacity, and a longer barrel and sight radius.

Not that I have anything against Kahrs... I recommend them for Back-Up-Guns though.

In the sub-compact class, the G-26 stands tall
above them all. Now, moving up in size you have
the G-19, Sig's 228, Smith's 3913, H&K's P7 just
to name a few. What do you mean by "real sight's"?
As you may know, Glock's sight's are plastic; all
the other's mentioned are more durable. Opinions
probably don't matter to you; but I would opt for
a West German manufactured Sig P228 with high cap's. :D

I'd say the Kahrs stand a little taller then the Glocks in the sub compact class...here's a Kahr MK-40 beside a G-27 (basicaly .40 versions of the 9s we've discussed here...well the slide on MK-40 is half an inch shorter then the K or P 40 covert)

I'd say the Kahr is every bit as good a gun as the Glock, but I'd give the Kahr a few extra points for being more compact.

The Colt Pocket 9 is a single stack with Novak sights.

Capacity: 6+1
Barrel: 3"
Length: 6¼"
Height: 4"
Weight: 17oz

I suppose it could be compared to the Kahr mentioned above. For a less expensive option, the Keltec P-11 is a double stack, no sights, but light and 10+1 rounds.

Capacity: 10+1
Barrel: 3.1"
Length: 5.6"
Height: 4.3"
Weight: 14.5oz

Buy a hammer,

Their small, almost concealable, and if you brandish, so what.

A good, 22 oz ESTwing with a blue handle and Ripperclaw(tm) end is surly what you need since you do not want to be bogged down.

Belt hoslters are found in most Sears.

You can target shoot around the house.

If you're talking about a single stack, then I'd suggest you try to find a Sig P225 or P239.

I had a P239, and it would shoot lights out all the way to 25 yards. Used to run circles around a buddy of mine and his Colt Gold Cup with it.

The problem with medium sized "compromise" ccw guns is that they are no more easy to conceal than a full size gun, and no more accurate than a much smaller gun.

I quit trying to find the holy grail of ccw. My 2 carry choices are a 5" 1911 (you know, the way God intended for 1911s to be) or a Kel Tec P32.

Lots of people disagree with this, and will tell you different. But they are wrong.

G33 more than enough but heavy
P11, enough and light
P32, not much but you'll never know it's there. No thicker than a poor gun owners wallet.

I wish my Sigs would shrink a bit...Or maybe shrunken Krinkov with a virtual drum...
