Completely new to NFA

I want to build an SBR and get a suppressor for my AR-15, but I am completely new to the NFA world.

I had Sean Cody draw up an NFA trust for me, and I just got that back from him and it looks sharp and ready to go.

Where should I start? Are there any good review sites out there that give me a good idea of what brands are better than others?

I have the SBR down pat, but I don't know much of anything about suppressor quality or types.

enough to keep you reading for days. It's also good to find a local class 3 dealer or two to see what they have in stock and what they recommend. They may even have a shoot coming up that you could attend to see them in action.

On my SBR I went the Form 1 route - no suppressor yet though. Here's a link to a write-up on my SBR experience. It provides other links to "how-to" sources of information. A couple of them, IIRC, reference suppressor info:

SBRs carry a CDI "coolness" factor and they can be a lot of fun to train with, but just be aware that there are trade-offs and limitations involved in going "short" with the AR system - notwithstanding adding a can to it.

Do a quality build and you should be fine.

If you are going to want to also use the .223 on .22lr rifles and pistols then one of the Quick Detatch silencer will be too expensive, bulky and expensive to have a hundred dollar mounts onto each additional weapon.

I like the AAC Advanced Armament Corporation Ranger II for use on .223 guns and .22lr.

If you can afford a QD unit and a dedicated .22lr silencer than then but 2 units, The AAC M4-1000 will handle all that your SBR can dish out. There are lots of .22lr silencers to buy, the AAC Pilot the SWR Spector everyone has a brand preference.

If you want the fastest QD made then go with the John's Guns Darkhorse M16 silencer , it is expensive a bit heavy and not as quiet as some other products but the manuf. is in TX and you won't need a local dealer you can buy direct.

Keep in mind you get what you pay for, while you can not buy too nice a silencer you can buy too crappy a silencer. As soon as someone reccomends a silencer that is the best available for the money, that means they like to buy as cheap as possible and only if you want low bidder do you take thier advice.
