Competitions for .22's?

Hi all. I shoot some IDPA and like the way things are classed according to equipment.

What kinds of .22 comps are out there that have a similar atmosphere that I can use my Marlins in? I have a 981T bolt action tube fed, and a 795 set up for Appleseed. I guess I am looking for fun matches where the gun doesn't matter as much as the shooter. Though I will contend both of these are at least minute of squirrel!

Same question goes for my Buckmark URX.

Lots of places do Steel Challenge with 22 rifles. There is also Ruger
Rimfire and 22 metallic silhouette. Check around with the local ranges
and gunshops. There is a range not far from me that does 22 egg shoots
and matches using charcoal briquettes for targets.

As suggested, check local ranges. One near me does a "3 gun" once a month, using .22 pistols and rifles, along with a shotgun.

It isnt quite a real 3 gun due to some limitations and rules for the range, but it is a lot of fun.

Our IDPA matches have a 22 division. Steel as mentioned and an outfit in town also runs a 22 specific match.

Ruger has a specific 22 match protocol - they might have some info on your area.

Due to age and injuries, my shoulders do not hold up full size handguns well anymore. :(
I checked with a Cowboy Shooting club to see if they had a .22lr class where I could compete using my Ruger Single Six thinking that would be fun. Answer: No. They do allow children to compete using .22s but nothing for adults. I was dissapointed and expressed the opinion they were losing out on possibly losing new shooters by not offering entry level matches in the rimfire division. Not everyone owns a .45lc single action but they might work up to it if the sport interests them. But, that's my opinion. They don't agree.

That's silly. Ruger Bearcats and a lever action 22 would be just dandy.

Probably just into their cowboy persona as Texas Tough Guy Bruce.
