Competition rifle selection.

I am considering the purchase of a competition rifle. I own 2 Brownings, .300 win mag White Gold Medallion and a .338 win mag Stainless Stalker. Both of which I use for hunting.

Many of my friends recommend a rem 700 with cal ranging from 30-06 to 300.

Any suggestions on what rifle I should start with? Price range is around $1000 just for the rifle not including optics. Hopefully I can get something pretty nice.

competition rifle

I would ask the same queston as Cpt Kraig. Don't think hes talking about a Palma gun or an across the course service rifle. Definately need more info.

comp gun

. Long range with no time limit. 400 -1000 yds.
No time limit? What is the course of fire? Can you take two days to make a shot?

Best advice that I can give....go to a few matches. See what is on the line. See what the winners are shooting. Buy that.

Like the previous post, need to know what competitioin. Service rifles your shooting 223.
F or F-tr 223 or 308’s etc, etc.
Go to Sniper’s Hide web site and read on what type of competition shooters are shooting.
Each class has restriction on what caliber you can shoot, rifle weight, etc.
I think they also sell rifles already set up, ready to go in the price range you are looking at.
Do your homework first or you may end up buying the wrong set up.
