Competing in Other States

Okay, so I'm thinking about going to one of those matches in Ca. or Camp Perry even. Problem is, what are the laws with respect to transporting guns to these other states for competition ? Do these matches check for local license requirements in order to compete ? How does one transport these guns legally ? Thoughts, please....
 
I can tell you how things work at Camp Perry:

You don't need any sort of license. You have to be a member of the NRA to compete in the matches, but that's it. Ohio doesn't require any sort of registration, licensing, or other BS.

Concealed carry is a no-no. Transport your firearms unloaded, cased, separate from the ammunition and out of reach (if possible) and you should be OK.
