Today I went to the range to compare my Ruger 22/45 Mark III Target to my new Mark IV 22/45 Lite.
The Mark III has a Volquartsen Kit in it already and I’m very happy with the trigger at 2 lbs. The Mark IV is stock and has a horrible trigger set at 5 lbs 14 oz. I have ordered a VQ Kit for it and am anxiously waiting for it to arrive.
I fired 100 rounds of CCI-Mini Mags through the Mark III and all worked flawlessly. Same with the 100 Mini Mags through the Mark IV. Biggest difference is the trigger. I just can’t seem to control the heavier trigger on the Mark IV and had a hard time keeping all shots on target.
Reliability goes to the Mark IV. I’ve shot over 3000 rounds without a hiccup. The Mark III is working pretty good but when I switched to my backup ammo of Federal Auto Match I had two jams while firing 200 rounds.
I’m sure that after I do the trigger work on the Mark IV I will really enjoy it but for now my matches are going to be shot with the Mark III.
Groups with the Mark III were so much better.
