Compact 10MM

For years I have pined for a "Compact" 10MM handgun possessing the characteristics of the 1911. I think there are 2 perfect candidates out there at present: the Springfield Armory "Champion" and the Heckler & Koch "USP Compact", the .45 platform. Both these platforms are as tough as they come. The only concern would be how to retard the rearward movement of the slide. I think H&K already has this worked out in their USP recoil spring guide design and that fix could be made to work in the Springfield Champion. Such an offering could restore the interest of the shooting public in the 10MM given the trend toward "concealed carry".

Read the other posts concerning the Glock 29 (if you haven't already) that is my pick for a compact 10. But you are right an HK USPc would be great in 10. I don't know about another 1911 design, as the Delta Elites were fracturing with the hot 10 loads. EAA has a compact 10mm in the Witness pistols. I do not know if it comes in cocked and locked form or not, but I suspect it does.

Check out Brian Bilby's website at www.1911custom.com .
He's one of the few gunsmiths who can build compact 1911s chambered for the 10mm. In particular, check out his Pocket Rocket (under the Professional Series section). It is one of his specialties.
He recently customized a 1911 for me, and his work is second to none.
