Common sense prevails in Mississippi! Open carry law upheld by MS Supreme Court

Hope so Dakota.........we ought to have a clearer view of what's in the wind by the latter part of this week. Here's hoping!

Opinion seems very narrow in that the new law is NOT vague, no mention of RKBA or anything like that.
I don't know how much value it is elsewhere, other than OC is a right that can't be licensed, at least in MS.

press1280,

The circuit court judge issued an injunction based on his finding that the law was vague. That is why they decided the way they did. Courts only decide the issue in front of them and the issue in this case was whether or not the law was vague.

And the MS supreme court rightly hooted at this bit of juridical chicanery. The trial court essentially ruled that the law (it's actually a clarification of existing law) was "unconstitutionally vague" under the terms of the MS constitution only because certain police chiefs (not county sheriffs, mind you) didn't like the idea of OC.

Just for the sake of clarification. In MS any adult can open carry but must have a permit to conceal carry? Is the open carry limited to hand guns?
