Poll: Common Problems - SIG

I would like to take a poll of common issues that arise with specific pistols by manufacturer. This is not intended as a bash session. I only want to know what I might expect from the purchase of one of these guns. I am interested in any issues that might have happened since you purchased this weapon. If you have only put a few rounds in or have only experienced the problem once, I would suggest not listing it as a real problem. I am hoping for feedback from a number of people who have put hundreds/thousands of rounds over a long period of time. Also, if you purchased the gun used and or tampered with, please refrain from submitting a vote.

Please check off the areas you have experienced trouble with your pistol

Greeting's-

As you might expect, I have encountered no problems at all with Sig's.

Best Wishes,
Ala Dan, Life Member N.R.A.

My P226 .40S&W rules...but it's nearly impossible to pack 10+1 into the gun! Darn tight fit!

My Sigs have never had any problems. However, from my experience so far and what I hear other Sig owners say, the alloy frame scratches easy along the rails and another common sight, and though not really a problem, is the nick behind the frame near the hammer due to the slide recoil return. It is just a small speck, but being black framed, seeing a tiny silver nick is annoying to the sight.

By the way Sept11, like you, I want to learn and know about these guns and comaprisons, etc. And yes, good questions on the polls also. I think that making these polls was actually a great idea and is of great benefit for newbies to this forum and guns in general like you and I. I also do agree that that is a hell of alot of polls, hehe. But I like it! I get to see the goods on each guns. Personally, I would choose and prefer Sigs and Hk's, and those are the polls I really wanted to see feedbacks from.;)

Love my Sig 229, but hate the finish... It's stainless and I've been jonesing for a Nitron (supposedly more durable) finished one...

I voted "other", but my issue isn't really a problem as much as cosmetic. The finish absolutely blows! It scratches very easily if it isn't handled with care. Hell, even if you handle it with care, it will scratch. I had one issue of rust, but that was after my 229 was exposed to a very humid environment and not wiped down afterward. The rust came off easily with a silicone cloth. Other than those two issues, I have not found a thing wrong with any SIG-Sauer.

Never owned a Sig, but I've always been disappointed with what I've seen on dealers shelves. The finish on some of the frames have surface scratches. I think that this is unacceptable in such a high dollar gun

I have four SIG Sauer pistols at this time. I have had no problems with the ones I have. I had a P229 .40S&W that wouldn't go fully into battery more often than not because of a chamber that was too tight. SIGArms would've made it right but I traded it for an HK91. That pistol was the exception as the other four have proven to be the rule.

I own 3 Sigs, a p229 40 S&W , p228 and a p220.
All 3 have given me 100% reliable service. I have had no problems!

Five SIG's, 10 years, 5000 rounds, no problems yet.

Do I give a rip what they look like? No. I don't think I ever look at them other than to do a "flight check" before loading for the range, and/or during cleaning.

No jams, no failures, and they hit in that little 1.5" dot at 15-20 yds. almost every time...

P228, no problems at all.
I've heard that the trigger return spring is the guns weakness.
Maybe after another 1000 or so rounds i'll let you know how its going. :D
