Commercial Mauser Action - Loose Bolt

Hey guys. I have a Parker & Hale in 7mm Remington Magnum. They are built around the commercial '98 Mauser Action. To cut to the chase, when the bolt in all the way in the "open" position/ all the way back/ action all the way open... the bolt is very wobbly. It moves around more than I want it to.

Is there a way to sure up the bolt? Make it move around less without getting crazy with the tools and labor.

This gun shoot fine. Very well accurate indeed. It's a 1.5" @ 100 yards average with premium ammo and less than that with my hand loads. Fact of the matter is, I feel like I could cycle the bolt faster with that tolerance being tighter.

Thanks in advance!!!

Is the bolt wore out? How much movement does it have half open? Open it half way and work the bolt and see. Can you post a picture?

No not worn out at all. Just historically, the Commercial 98 Mauser actions and bolts maybe even as well at the military units too are all relatively loose when the bolt is all the way in the back position. "Open" action = wobbly bolt.

The pics show an example if the bolt open in the all the way back position as is.

The second pic is of the bolt in the open position but with me pushing up on it. If you look you can see the angle in which its raised as well as the change in the size of the gap between the underside of the bolt and the top of a rear of the receiver.

I checked my Mauser and it does the same thing. I wouldnt worry too much about it. As long as the lock-up is tight I would just keep on shooting it.

The Mausers are real rattle traps when open, it's when they are closed and locked that's important. Actions that are based on the Mauser design are similar, such as the Ruger M77.

Understandable. And I know this. But I dont like it and i'm sure Reid Coffeild would not either HAHA. Greatly appreciate everyone's feedback.
