I really like the rem 7400 in carbine version. Handy, fairly light, reasonable ammo, and semi auto. Does anybody have experience with this model? Can I shoot "high energy" loads? Thanks, j.s.

The Remington 7400 Carbine, a 18.5" barreled .30-06 semiautomatic is a real handful. It's light, lively, and loud.

Magazine changes are a snap too. Just don't put a high powered scope on the thing and kill it's benefits...

This model is notorious for being very finicky with regards to the ammunition you feed it. Load testing will have to be done to see which factory load it'll feed and shoot accurately. A tuned 7400 will stay well under 2 MOA with factory ammo. Stay away from handloads and the newer high energy loads with this Remington...
