Commander slide on Gov't frame

Are there any functional or safety problems in putting a 0.45 Commander model upper assembly (slide, barrel, barrel bushing, recoil spring, guide and cap on a Gov't model frame. I realize that the dust cover might be a bit long, but would that affect anything adversely?
I think I read ,a long time ago that there is a complication in regard to the barrel link area in the frame?
Anyone ever try this ?

There shouldn't be any problems as long as the guide rod, recoil spring and plug are all from the commander. All the pin holes in the frame are in the same places. It will look a bit funny because the sturrip cut at the front of the slide will end behind the front edge of the dust cover.
