"Combat Focus Shooting"

I am wondering if any of you watched Defense TV this week where Robert Pincus demonstrated "Combat Focus Shooting"? If so did you tape it?

And if you did, during the segment were he actually demonstarted the techniques they used a bottle shaped target. He would shoot while 'moving off the X' so to speak.

When he moved off line while shooting can you stop your tape and look at the target he shot just as he finished (it panned on the target) and then not 20 seconds later when he talked about the hits (and again it panned on the target.)

Can you tell us just what kind of hits did you see on the target?

Thanks.

Just go to your Personal Firearm Defense DVD you got from the NRA. It has an explanation and demonstration of Rob's Combat Focus Shooting. It's all there.

Rob Pincus' recap of Combat Accurate is:
"Any hit that significantly affects the target's ability to present a lethal threat is Combat Accurate. Under most realistic circumstances, Combat Accurate hits are achievable."

Check out your DVD.

Hey guys... First: Thanks for watching the show and for your interest in CFS...

I got a chance to see the show last week, but only once and wasn't involved in the editing process... I do recall that there were several takes cut together in the final piece... in fact, I noticed some inconsistency in the target during the takes. That's part of the deal when you are an invited guest on a TV Show!

For a complete explanation of the Shooting in Motion drill that was shown, check out this Podcast.

Rob,

I suspected something with the editing. I thought maybe you had, after doing the drill to the left, did it to the right also (and thus different hits.)

It just looked weird that there were two hits on the edges of the square in the bottle and then the hits were in much different places (and you talked about were they were and how hard it is to shoot like that.)

Oh, and I've watched most of the series you have been on (I record it so I can watch it later.)

Yes, there was some inconsistency there, and some talking and shooting pieces were out of order.... The fact is that we generally try to shoot as fast as possible in the demo and I can assure the hits are not always perfect.... there were a couple of targets used and several takes (some with a POV camera that apparently didn't make the cut).

Thanks again for watching!

By the way, we spent the last 3 days taping at "US Training Center" (formerly Blackwater) for "The Best Defense: Survival", which will start airing in July. The first season of TBD starts its re-runs today.

I just got the Combat Focus Shooting DVD in the mail from the NRA to review and purchase if I want. Going to have to pop that in the player when I get home from work tonight! To date my most influntial self defense shooting training has been the Stressfire System as taught at Massad Ayoob's LFI but I'm always interested in expanding my knowledge. If the two systems end up being too different then I'll just have to decide which I think will work best for me. The hope of coarse is that they will compliment each other rather than conflict with each other and improve my ability and maybe my survivability in a deadly force encounter! A win/win situation! :D

Sorry about that...am assuming you meant the SHOOTING GALLERY episode with Rob. Our production companies sometimes "tweak" material after I've already signed off on a rough-cut, and I suspect that what happened here.

Moderators...this is NOT a commercial post! Just answering a question...

SHOOTING GALLERY, which I host, and THE BEST DEFENSE, which is hosted by Rob Pincus, Michael Janich and I, are part of Wednesday Night at the Range on OUTDOOR CHANNEL. You can also see AMERICAN RIFLEMAN TV, SHOOTING USA, SIGHTING IN, AMERICAN GUARDIAN and my third show,COWBOYS, on Wednesday night. Scheduling information is available on the DRTV website (www.downrange.tv).

YEE-FLIP-DOODY-YEE-HAW!!!
I thought I had no access to these shows and lo and behold I got the Outdoor channel... never really liked the majority of huntin' shows due to layout and format.
Thanks!
