Columbine gun bill.

I saw that clip on the 6 PM news. They JUST HAD to use the part with the dealer shooting the full auto as a rep for the pro gun side, and the father of a dead gun victim as the 'voice of reason" for the other side.

I live here in Colorado with a VOTE NO ON 22 sign in my front yard. I have already voted (Run George, Run) and voted against 22. If we can only get as many votes here in Denver against 22 as the liberals vote for 22, then the rest of the state should carry this amendment into oblivion. The main problem is that Denver has been so liberal/Democratic voting, that it makes me sick. That seems to be changing though. Three more days and we will know. If 22 goes down in flames, like I hope, then what will poor ol' Tom Mauser do with his time? He has been defeated at every turn of his gun control agenda in the legislature. The sad part is, Gov. Owens got into office on the coattails of pro-gun voters, promising the right to CCW. Then Columbine happened. Governor Owens renigged on the CCW (that was on his desk the day of Columbine) and has aligned himself with Tom Mauser and Wellington Webb (Denver mayor) and has become virulent anti-gun. He will not make a second term. The liberals won't vote for him and all the pro-gun people won't either. They would rather see a Democrat in office than a Republican who thinks lying is a valid form of political necessity!!

Wallew- Tom Mauser will continue his crusade against guns. 22 is going to pass, there are just too many well-intentioned people buying into the gun show thing. I voted 3-4 weeks ago-against it of course-and caught my wife just about to vote for it. I explained to her what the real deal is with 22 and she changed her vote. Mauser is a man with a mission, he will not go back to his old job, he'll see "his" victory as a sign the he and the money people behind him (HCI)are right. His next target? Maybe the "newspaper loophole", or the "gun club loophole". We'll see next week.....

Maybe the 1st admendment "loophole" or the 7th admendment "loophole." Freedom shouldn't be regarded as a loophole. The people of colorado need to make a stand, and use their second admendment rights to close the "politician loophole."

The *BIG* loophole to be addressed eventually is the dangerous concept of
passing guns around indiscriminately. This is a direct result of the “at home
loophole.”

There is no way yet in place to document who owns a firearm and who the
authorized users may be. Only by properly registering each firearm to each
licensed owner can this loophole be closed.

Then, at unannounced roadblocks on the interstate highways of America, the
government will be able to search each vehicle for contraband, e.g. drugs,
child pornography, firearms, militia paraphernalia and literature, etc. Search
and seizure warrants can be “boiler-plated” to be signed by enlightened
judges and Justices of the Peace as needed to search homes and businesses
almost at will.

In this manner, and other more effective procedures to be implemented
incrementally over time, all unlawful use of force and deadly force can be
eliminated. If the Columbine Law is passed, the process must lead
inexorably toward eliminating this reckless, dangerous, and unauthorized
lending, borrowing, trading and other unauthorized use of firearms. After all, what is the use of licensing gun owners and registering firearms if it is not to prohibit the use of registered firearms to non-licensed (government approved) gun
owners as well as unauthorized use by other licensed gun owners?

A useful by-product of this legislation would be to ensure the destruction of
all firearms upon the death of the licensed owner. The eventual elimination
of firearms from the American Society can thus be ensured.

I live in Upstate NY, so I can answer:
My pistol permit lists each handgun my make, model, serial number, action
type, etc.
They know EXACTLY what you own. You cannot buy any handgun without
presenting the purchase coupon from the firearms pistol permit clerk to the
dealer. If the sale is a private sale, the previous owner gets your purchase
coupon, and s/he takes that to the pistol permit clerk to get the firearm
taken off THEIR permit.

The incremental destruction of our Constitution must be stopped or immoral
nonsense such as the above will become routine.

Wallew,

Me too! I've been discussing 22 with friends and co-workers. So has my wife. We have managed to get around 27 people who "were" going to vote for it, to vote against it instead.

What I find interesting in regards to Tom Mauser, is that he took a leave of absence from his job of 75K to head up the SAFE group. I would hope his employer has eliminated the job since it appears he/nor they need each other.

The Denver Post also shows him adopting a little girl from China. I'm curious how much time he has given to his existing daughter.

"It is the target of a $600,000 National Rifle Association campaign." Why no mention of the millions of dollars spent by the anti-gunners? Don't bother answering, it's a rhetorical question.

Unfortunately, I'll have to agree with motorep concerning Amendment 22's liklihood of being passed. As much as I'd like to indulge in wishful thinking on this one, I believe it's a done deal (but don't let that stop you from voting against it if you live in Colorado).

motorep, you're right on target with your "newspaper loophole" comment. That will be the next rung descended to on the registration/confiscation ladder to hell. Tommy-boy Mauser (isn't that last name a real irony?) and his cronies at HCI won't be happy until there is no more private gun ownership (aka freedom).
