I know that 'O' is a Gov't. Model, and I think an 'I' is a python. Can you provide an example of each of those other frames? Thanks.:)

Colt Frame/Letter Designations:

Army Special, Official Police, Officers Model Match, Trooper & 357 = “E” Frame

Lawman Mk. V, Lawman Mk. III, Metropolitan Mk. III, Official Police Mk. III, Peacekeeper, Trooper Mk. Mk. V and Trooper Mk. III = “J” Frame.

Hope this is helpful.

Let me try, and I am sure someone (maybe several someones) will let us know if I am wrong.

AA - King Cobra (new action)
D - Detective Special, Cobra, Agent, Commando,
Diamondback, Police Positive, Viper
DA - Double Action .45
E - Army Special, Officers Model Match, Officers Model Target,
Official Police (old)
F - Reproduction percussion revolvers as a group
G - .22 Peacemaker, .22 New Frontier
I - Python, Trooper (old), .357 Magnum
J - Lawman Mk III and V, Official Police Mk III, Peacekeeper,
Metropolitan Mk III, Trooper Mk III and V, King Cobra
K - Frontier Scout 1962 (new)
MM - Anaconda
O - Government Model
P - Single Action Army
Q - .22 Frontier Scout, .22 Buntline Scout (old)
S - Postwar Woodsman
SF-VI - Detective Special, 1993 model
V - Short action version of the D frame

Now, if anyone is less confused than I am, please feel free to chime in.

Jim:

Thanks, eh? I've never seen the whole list myself. Leave it to Colt never to do anything the simple way if there's a hypercomplexificationalized way to be found.

That's great if you ignore the ones where they just did their thing. Sometimes I think all Colt workers used to make Alfas and Fiats.
