I was led to believe that the Python would be back for 2006 and furthurmore that there would be a lot of other new things going on with new machines on the floor of their factory. What is going on, their website is the same old 1911 junk (as well as one picture of the old SAA and AR 15) Give us some variety. Get on the ball. What is going on with Colt? I would have expected their site to be updated by the new year to unveil their "new" items.

Colt died approximately seven years ago after a long and painful illness. RIP.

What's left is some type of weird and lesser copy. Like an Elvis impersonator.

Government Colts?

WHat gov't contracts? I thought that FN got all the AR contracts, and we no longer have a cavalry to buy the SAA. The 45 auto was dropped in 1985, and what is left? Artillery or something?

Check colt's website , its geared exclusively toward Military,Police and Security contractors only. I can't find any Colt company help/sales/or service websites for civilian guns anywhere. Its like if GM just closed up shop and ignore past, present, and potental future civilian customers to focus on just making Humvees for the military. It is wierd and sad.

Colt Government Model is less expensive than just about any quality 1911 on the market, save for the Springfield Mils.

Oh yeah, I just purchased a new Colt pistol from WildWildAlaska....mesohapppayyy!!!:D
Talk to him, I have never dealt with anyone so helpful and professional.

..it is because of the sub-standard condition of formerly great American companies that I buy vintage guns exclusively(like why I watch old movies or tv shows)....at least I then have the illusion of greatness then....true American-made greatness is largely a history lesson now....what is today is piece-meal imitation at best....blame your own generations of today..it is and will be their handiwork and legacy....

Well as for Colt firearms in general I got 2 M-4 Sporters(6400c models) and they work fine. Also on these Colt went back to the regular front push take down pin instead of the funky duoble screw pin.

You're the victim of "internet experts" who haven't bothered to learn how to use a phone!

Here's the straight scoop "from the horse's mouth": I've talked to three different people, including one in the Custom Shop, at Colt's within the last week. They tell me:

- Colt is definitely NOT producing Pythons in the Custom Shop, haven't for "quite a while" (according to the fellow I spoke with), and haven't had any remaining inventory for "at least" a year.

- Colt has no plans - none, according to all of their representatives - to resume production of the Python at least through 2006.

- I asked if the Python will return at all; they all told me that nothing had been said about the future of the model.

So, if you want a Python you'll be buying a used one - at least for the foreseeable future.

The state of NY used to hold most of the stock in the company..they never have got over that. They dont beleve in selling guns to the 'public' now.

"I have them all"

No you don't. I saw 7 or 8 different models on display this afternoon at Green Top Sporting Goods and there's no telling how many of each they have in the warehouse.

Now, I'll allow that maybe you have most of them... :)

I wonder, can I find a use for a blindingly bright shiny Super .38? Oh right, they're .38 Supers now.
