My son found a pair of Trooper's so we went together and bought them. His is a 1972 year and that is the year he was born!!!
Mine has the box and the paper work with it. On the invoice is was sold for $159.95 + tax $8.00 = $167.95 on 8/24/1973
Took it to the range and it is a nice shooter!!!

When you find a couple...
that old...
in that condition...
with all those pieces of paperwork...
and the original boxes...

Somebody died. :(

You guys got some nice revolvers and I'd be willing to bet the previous owner would (otherwise) be happy to see they ended up in the hands of enthusiasts.

Yes he did die and his sons are keeping the guns they want and getting rid of the ones they did not want. He had to gun safes full of guns. My son knows one of the sons and got these Colt Troopers and a Colt 1911!

Getting rid of old Colts? WTH did they want? Please dont say the glocks...:( I see that all to often up here. I traded a beat up G22 for a beautiful Model 28...

Nice Trooper Mark III. You going to shoot it? My Trooper Mark III is my favorite 357 mag to shoot. It is the only Colt that I shoot any more with any regularity.

Sounds like the two Troopers found a good new home with someone that appreciates them.

Back in my LEO days,my duty weapon was a 6" nickle Trooper Mk III. I shot on a combat team and also earned NRA "Distinguished Expert" and "Master" rankings with that revolver.Lots of 250/250 scores with a tennis ball sized hole in the ten. My only mods were pachmeyer grips and a spring kit when shooting for score.I wish I still had it and I'll probably bite if I ever find another one in good shape.

While you may already be aware of this, it bears mentioning that you should not dry fire that revolver without snap caps. The only real weak point of the Trooper Mk. III is that the firing pin is somewhat prone to breakage from too much dry firing and, unfortunately, the Colt factory is the only place with the proper equipment to replace it.

Very nice, thanks for sharing the pics. It'd certainly be fantastic if the sons were left a couple Border Patrols and Peacemakers.
