Colt Trooper Mark 111 cilinder

Try Numrich Arms.

Try ebay (search sporting goods-hunting-gun parts-pistols and type in cylinder and spell it correctly) as they turn up from time to time.

Good luck.

One word of warning: These revolver cylinders are NOT "Drop-in" parts.
They ALL require extensive fitting by a qualified pistolsmith.

Since most available cylinders are used, they've already been fitted to a gun once, and this makes fitting to a different revolver even more difficult.

Also, you usually can't use the original ejector with a replacement cylinder, since both of these parts MUST be fitted to the gun as a unit.

Hi!

Thanx a lot for the replies! The tips on fitting the new cilinder will certainly help...
There are a few good gunsmiths around.
My situation is not good because I'm in Stellenbosch, South-Africa and getting the cilinder here is another hill to climb...
I've got a few friends in the States. Is it possible to transport such a part by plane? Don't want to get them in prison!

Thanx again guys!

I am not aware of any U.S. law against exporting a gun part. Are the old restrictions against trading with S.A. dropped?

A replacement cylinder MIGHT drop in but I wouldn't count on it. Colts were hand fitted much more than S&Ws and I have not had great luck in parts swapping (although I did swap a cylinder on a New Service with very little trouble). But the Mk IIIs were mass-produced guns (more so than the more deluxe Pythons) and you may get lucky. I usually see cylinders offered for sale with the ejector in place.

hmostert1,

You can contact Cylinder & Slide in Fremont, Nebraska, USA. It used to be a Colt-authorized service center and might possess a MkIII cylinder. It may still be one, but I think Colt does all service at the Hartford plant now. Cylinder & Slide folks have always been helpful. It does business all over the globe.

Colt also has a number to call to find parts distributors "nearest you". One can also order parts from Colt directly using the same number.
