Colt Systema Question

Hey Guys,
I have been researching the Colt Systema...my question is...without seeing the weapon with my own two eyes how can you tell what the quality would be like? I have seen the different prices for different grades of systema...has anyone bought the #2 or 3 choice? I would appreciate any imput from those of you who have purchased the systema in any of the grades they have listed...I just want to know what to expect. Thank's!
Tony.

The conditions are described on www.cruffler.com website.I would stick with grade 1 if you don't want any surprises. My grade 1 looks like a brand new pistol.Don't go cheap here.

The dealer that got my 1st one, I suspect, got me a grade 2 or 3. The metal was somewhat pitted and just not in the shape I was expecting. The 2nd one, however, was in very good to excellent condition. When I ordered my 2nd one, I made darn sure that he got me a grade 1. Might I add, both work perfectly, with good magazines of course.

Just bought a Grade 1 through Cruffler.com/JLD Enterprises. Very good condition. Stick with Grade 1 and you should be okay.

My grade 1 from JLD was excellent including the mag. It did have some blueing in the barrel which is now gone :) I did change out all springs with a kit from Wolff before shooting so I don't know how it would have worked out of the box.

Hey Pointblank,
sorry about the similar handle...it's the one I use on another gun site so I thought i'd just carry it over to here (HS2000 Talk) hence the pointblank (2K) so please forgive the FNG (freak'in new guy)
Thank's,
Tony.

No biggie....enjoy TFL, its a good site. And dont forget to subscribe to SWAT magazine for very good reading. The owner of TFL just bought it from Larry Flynt enterprises:). You can subscribe online at top of page:)

My Grade 1 has matching serials but the barrel is pert near gone
(severely erroded). Still functions very well.
Still accurate enough for defensive purposes in my opinion
In addition to the poor barrel it shows quite a few dings that the refinish prep couldn't remove.

In my opinion this is testament to the quality. For a pistol to take the abuse that mine obviously has and still be as tight and sound as it is is a credit to the design and maker.

All mine really needs is to tame the bite!!

My 1st Sistema was in need of some minor work. The barrel bushing and the magazine catch were worn out. The barrel is worn but ok. The slide is pitted a little also. I wonder if in 50 or 60 years some of the newer designs will be in this good of condition? My 2nd one was in much better condition. I wonder if it was ever even used? Both were supposedly grade 1's. I'm sure that the latter one is but I'm not so sure about the 1st. Might I add, I'm happy with both.

I've only purchased one Sistema 1927, and it was from www.cruffler.com. It was a beauty, and the barrel appears to be brand new, even though it is serialized the same as the gun. I have to believe it's a replacement. Here it is, haven't done anything to it but shoot it. :)

Johnwill,
I saw that picture of your Systema before...that's where my question started...if I could be sure to get one like yours...i'm in! by the way...it seems like slim pickens these days...Cruffler e-mailed me back and told me they were out of stock but are expecting another shipment in soon. Thank's for all the feedback guys...i'm going to get the grade 1 for sure.
Tony.

I'm in the same boat as you. Cruffler.com should have that next shipment in by the end of the month (at least thats what Adam told me)

This is worse than waiting for Christmas morning.

Mike

KPS,
Your gun looks SWEEET! and Coronach...you're right...it's like being a 5 yr old waiting for Christmas! I e-mailed Adam today to ask him to let me know ASAP when they come in.
Tony.

Mine was from CDNN, grade 1, and looked it when I got it. The only problem was the mag follower, which was rounded, not flat, and was responsible for several feed failues.

No problem. I just used my old GI mags to break it in. The same mags I've used in my M70 for over 20 years. 400 rounds later, it was shooting just as well as my M70. The only other mods I have done to it is to replace the hammer, and install Pahcmeyr wrap-around rubber grips.

I did have to temorarily replace the hammer when I discovered that the issue wide-spur hammer needed a little polishing on the slide bearing surface, but everything else is unchanged as it came in the box.

I'm satisfied enough with it to use it for my carry/duty gun. Granted, it isn't as pretty as the modern plastics, but it gets the job done, and has just the appearance I want in my duty gun...no nonsense, no kidding.
