Colt SF VI...anybody have any info?

I picked up a new wheelgun at the local gun emporium last night, and I don't know too much about it since it's not one of the well-known Colts like the Python or the King Cobra. It's a Colt SF VI, stainless steel, 2" barrel, .38 Special chambering, with rubber Pachmayr grips with a Colt medallion inset. The cylinder has six chambers, although the overall package is surprisingly small for a six-shot wheelgun...the whole thing is not much bigger than the Taurus 85 I was looking at earlier.

Does anybody know anything about this gun? They're obviously out of production, so it would be nice to know when these things were made, and what their general reputation and popularity was. I paid $300 for it, and it is in very good shape, with only minor surface wear on the forward edge of the cylinder. The trigger is extremely smooth and crisp, probably the the best out-of-the-box revolver trigger I have tried so far. I am looking forward to shooting it tonight.

I don't know zip about these Colts, and neither did any of the (usually very knowledgeable) folks in my gun store. It would be nice to know just what I spent $300 on...so far I don't even know what "SF" stands for. It's roughly the size and shape of a Detective Special.

SF VI stands for Small Frame Six Shot. This is the later model which replaced the Detective Special. While it is the same size as the DS the lockwork was changed for easier manufacturing.
I don't think the trigger is as good as the DS, but if you are happy with it, thats great.
The SF VI did not do well in the market and didn't survive for long when it was replaced by the DS II. Which is now gone as well.
The Colt D-frame size revolvers have always been by favorite snubbies.
$300 may be just a tad high but not unreasonable. You did ok.
