Hey guys iwant to get a Colt 1873 saa pistol in 45lc. Now real Colt SAA cost way to much for me and their Cowboy model is still around $700 or more. I looked at a Cimmaron and it seemed well built. The best clones i have seen, or so they seem, are the Uberti guns. They seem top notch for fit and finish. But will they stand up to a lot of use? These are defenitly fun guns and will be shot a lot! Also what about EMF guns, and Dokota Arms? I have seen all these but can't make a choice on what to buy. Any help would be great ,thanks 45automan

Most of the clones you will see are manufactured by Uberti and finished by their repsective importers, i.e. EMF, Cimmaron, Navy Arms and a few others. Exceptions are Liberties, iported by KBI, American Arms, EAA and a few others.
The only differnce in the Uberti guns is the quality of the fit and finiish work done by the importer. Cimmaron is probably the best of the well known importers. US Patent Firearms is doing their finish work in the old Colt factory and pride themselves on the quality of their guns, which is exceptionable. Unfortunatley so is the price. Any will hold up as well as a real Colt and probably better than the Colt Cowby. Colt's own literature on the Cowboy refers to it as a reproduction of the legendary single action army.
They feel very little like a Colt but the Ruger Vaquero is stronger and will hold up to repeated use better than any of the others, real or cloned.
