Colt R6601 barrel question

My friend in Pennsylvania has a pre-ban Colt R6601 (AR-15) and asked me if it has a chrome lined barrel. He looked through the barrel with a bore light and said it appears chrome, but then again, it could just be damn shiney.

I heard some of the early Colt ARs had chrome lined chambers and not barrels. Any experts out there?

I had a 6601 and it was not chrome. The reason I know this is because I had a gunsmith cut it down to a dissipator and he told me he would not had cut it if it was chromed line. I heard that Colt no longer chrome their barrel other than the M4's. I'm 80% sure, but I could be wrong.
