OK, from your other post I thought it was an older model Detective Special.
This is a "DS-II". Although the DS apparently stands for Detective Special Two, the "official" name of it IS "DS-II".
These later production small revolvers are significantly different than the original Detective Special "D" framed guns.
These are in fact, a totally different gun, which is essentially a reduced size version of the King Cobra and Anaconda.
This is a true stainless steel gun, AND a rare one.
The SF Colt's like the SF-VI, DS-II, and Magnum Carry were only made a few years, and the 3" and 4" barrels are RARE.
Collectors are in HOT pursuit of these guns, so HANG ON to it.
Your picture isn't clear enough to make out, but I see what MAY be the Colt Custom Shop logo on the bottom of the rubber grips.
If possible post a close-up of the grip.
Other than the box label, the only way to be sure if this is a Custom Shop gun is to contact Colt.
However, the odd non-Colt-standard serial number is a strong indication that this is not a regular production Colt.
The "S" on the barrel is usually found on stainless Colt's, and is an indicator Colt used to prevent confusion between plated guns and stainless.
Whether it is or isn't a Custom Shop gun, you landed a real winner of a rare, limited production Colt.
I'm betting it IS in fact a Custom Shop model, probably one of some limited version, thus the odd serial number, which would indicate this is gun #31 of limited model "SU"???? Shooter's Union??, Stainless Undercover??
