Colt Python Extra markings

I have a Colt Python that I believe has been refinished but my question is ; it has an extra number stamped on the grip frame. Does this ring a bell for anyone? Thx

It's just an assembly number or an inspector's number.

I have several pythons and have owned more but this is the first one with this type of marking. Not saying you are wrong but it seems unusual to me. Thx

That's not a common Colt or Python marking.
I don't think it was applied at Colt, but never say never about Colt.

My best guess is that it was added by an owner for some reason, possibly to ID it if it was stolen.
I probably wasn't a company or police department mark, since those were always added where they could be plainly seen.

Concur with Dfariswheel. I've taken a number of Colts apart to clean and have never seen marks like that.
