Colt Python / Diamondback questions...

I inherited my father's 4" Colt Diamondback a few years ago and it has become my favorite revolver. I've noticed similarities to the venerable .357 Python.

Exactly how similar/different are they (besides caliber, of course)???

Does anyone know what the frame designation is (L-frame, perhaps?)?

It's missing the knurled ejection rod knob. Where can I find replacement parts?

The Python is what Colt calls an I frame and the Diamondback is built on their D frame (same as a Detective Special). The I frame is about the same size as S&W's L frame; while the D is between the K & J frame guns.
Try Gun Parts Corp. for the part you need: 914-679-4867. (That's where I found this info).

Having owned and shot both, I sold my python (stupid choice, but I got a wife in the trade (wedding rings)) and I kept my diamondback. Great guns, same "heft" and feel and very similar trigger action.

Enjoy the diamondback, I cannot even begin to guess how many rounds mine has fired. 100,000's over the last 21 years.
