I agree with Grant and Dfaris that what you are seeing is an uncommon deal at a fair price.......assuming this revolver is unfired, unturned, and with an excellent box and all accessories.
As an investment gun this one has everything in place.
It's mint in the box, the absolute best condition possible.
It's in a caliber that is still common.
It has a pony on the side.
This pistol will likely never go down in value, unless it is shot or abused.
The trouble is, by most accounts, it is priced $50 to high, and it may take a decade to catch up with what you paid. there is an old saw.....you cannot pay to much for a great gun, you can only pay it to early. I believe that is the case here. Someday, this revolver will surely be worth $1000 if it is carefully preserved. Chances are, we will be dead though.
If you like the gun, and can gain enjoyment simply through possessing it but never firing it, then by all means, buy it. If you are the type of guy, like me, who must shoot and/or dink around with guns, then leave this one alone. Let a collector have it who will cherish and preserve it. Buy a $200 shooter Police Positive Special instead and shoot the dog snot out of it.
If you want to invest in something, take a kid shooting.
