Colt "Pocket Pistol" .380 Hammerless

I have just acquired my Dad's old ('40s and '50s) FBI "daily carry" weapon, a .380 hammerless ACP (Serial #128091). I believe it's basically an early Browning 1897/1903 design, based on locking ribs rather than a cross-connecting slide stop.

It's in fine condition; I thoroughly inspected, cleaned and lubricated it and found it to have no real problems (and even very little holster wear to the bluing).

What can you tell me about this ACP?

My records indicate that this pistol is the 1908 Pocket (Model M .380 ACP) It is basically the same as the Pocket Model .32 ACP and was mfg'd from 1908-1940.

There were several types of this pistol,

Type II:
.380's with barrel bushing were mfg'd from 1908-1910 (6,251 mfg'd.) These pistols are serial nmbered 1 to 6,251

TYPE III:
Those that don't have the barrel bushing were mfg'd from 1910 to 1926. they are numbered form 6,252 to 92,893

TYPE IV:
These have the added magazine safety, of which there is a civilian model and a military model. Military are stamped US Property. They are numbered 92,894-134,499.

The Military model was in blued finish only and numbered 134,500 to 138,000.

Trivia:

The .380 ACP is also known as the 9mm Browning Short
