I'm getting confused. Can someone explain the difference between... a Colt
Pony
Pony Pocketlite
Mustang
Mustang Pocketlite
Gov't Mustang
Pocket nine

Some of these are probably the same thing, just being called a different name. Which are SA, DA, and DAO? Is there alot of size difference?
Thanks, any help is appreciated.

Well, let's see.

The Pony is .380 ACP caliber, double action only, stainless. External bobbed hammer. The Pony Pocketlite is the same gun with an aluminum alloy frame.
The Mustang is a shortened version of the .380 Government, which in turn is a scaled down version of the Government model. The Mustang Plus II is the same except with a slightly longer grip and a 7 shot magazine, vs. the Mustang's 5 or 6 (increased part way through production). The Mustang Pocketlite is the same as the Mustang except for an alloy frame. All are single action, and most were available in blue, stainless, and nickel. Some were available in Teflon, Coltguard, and chrome.

The Pocket Nine was a DAO in 9mm Para., alloy frame, stainless steel slide.

The Pony was made in Spain; I don't know about the others.

AFAIK, all have now been discontinued.

I love my Mustang Pocketlite!

It looks almost just like a miniture 1911. It's been a fine pistol. 100% reliable. It's the one I put in a hip pouch when the wife and I go for walks in the park. I saw a new one at the Louisville show a couple of months ago for $550.00. When I purchased mine, it was only $379.95. I like it so much I nearly bought that one at the gun show just for a spare. (However, I had already bought SO much that if I had crossed that line, my wife would have shot me with it.:)) (Not really :))

My little government 380 is a great gun, very reliable, but it suffers from a common malady I am told. Mine is starting to peen the locking lugs after only about 1000 rnds. The slide is doing fine, but the barrel lugs are starting to develop a lip. Adventually a new barrel is in order.

Anyway, great gun, just wish they would continue to make it.

If you get a chance, buy one.
