Anyone here have any opinions on the Colt Peacekeeper .357.I have the opporunity to buy one NIB for $350.00.My understading is that they were made for a short period in the 80's for the police market, and are based on the Colt Trooper. The one i am considering has a flat black, almost parkerized finish and Pachmayr grips w/the Colt medallion on them. Thanks in advance for any info/opinions.

These are basically the Colt Trooper Mark V with a dull black finish, and were really intended for the civilian market, not the police.

Along about then, Colt was on a kick of offering revolvers with an unpolished black or parkerized finish, in an attempt to hold down cost. These included the Trooper V as the Peacekeeper, the Detective Special as the Commando, and the Cobra as.....the Cobra???

Other than the external finish, they are the equal of the standard polished guns of the time.

Shortly after this, Colt rebarreled the gun and offered it as the King Cobra.

Good price for a great gun, go for it!!!

Thinking back, you may well be right. I don't recall a black finish Cobra.

The Colt's with the cheaper black finish were all renamed, as above, EXCEPT the Agent model, which for some reason was still called the Agent.
