Colt Official Police value?

Old Smoker

Anyone have an idea what a 38 special official police revolver, 1954 mfg, in excellent condition, 6' bbl, value might be in todays market?

OP .38

LOL. With a 6' barrel it would be really valuable. I know you meant 6" but I just couldn't resist. I would post this question to the experts on the Colt forum. They are really knowledgable about all things Colt. You need to provide some pictures as this would help determine the value. I know this , they don't make them anymore and they were and are very good shooters. The action has the old time Colt V mainspring which makes for a slick and smooth shooter. :)

Can't tell you what yours is worth with out more info but I bought a post war one in about 95% condition 6 months ago for $400.00 at a local gun show.

IN GENERAL,

not a lot. There were a lot of cops, and a lot of police specials, and they aren't going to be rare or valuable if they are just run of the mill police specials in ordinary condition. Don't get your hopes up, the valuable colts are the older ones.
