Colt Officer's Enhanced Upgrades

I'm ten days away from picking up my Officer's Enhanced model here in the PRK. The pistol is stock in stainless and has a number of very nice factory upgrades, like a beveled mag well, beveled ejection port and ramped slide.

Any recommendations on further mods? This will be a carry piece. Thanks!

Noban,

Congrats on the new pistol!!! I'm betting you'r going to like it.

I think the list of mods is a short one. Night sights, extra mags, case of ammo...

Good Luck...

Joe

What he said. Heck, the point of the E-series pistols is that they're not supposed to need to be tinkered with to work reliably or ergonomically. If it doesn't satisfy you 100% on both fronts, don't buy it, or sell it and get something that does! Take the $ you don't spend on do-dads and put it toward ammo and training. Or (and? <g> ), save up a few more and buy a backup copy of the same pistol -- for just in case.

I would vote for the night sights, but that ought to take care of it.

Have fun, this is (should be) a good pistol.

Trigger job (4.5#) & barrel throat and polish. An aluminum trigger, as opposed to nylon would also be nice. Skip overtravel adjustible ones for carry.

I've had an Officer's Enhanced ACP for 6 years or so. I've had no trouble with reliability with any loads (exception: a 10-rd Wilson mag that was ornery for the first 20 rounds). I think you'll be happy with it, and it makes for an excellent carry piece.

Mine could use a trigger job though.

Progressive reloader.
Most modifications range somewhere between unnecessary and detrimental.
Good sights, good trigger, dehorning, and the tuning necessary to ensure reliability are money well spent. The rest may contribute to pride of ownership (they have for me) but they really don’t add anything functionally.
But reloading has multiplied the amount I can afford to shoot, and the good progressive presses don’t eat up my time.
