I have a friend that has a Colt New Service .45 Colt revolver. It has a 7.5" barrel. They started making the New Service in 1898 and this one has a serial number of 83x. The bore is G-VG and it times up well exterior finish is about 70% and the original grips are VG+. It times up well and there is no end shake to talk about.

The ejector rod is smaller than most New service revolvers I have seen abd the front sight is half moon shaped. Here are some photos of it.

Anyone know how much it would sell for?

Doug

Without having checked the auction sites, I would WAG that gun at about $1200. It is the old model and they are uncommon today since they weren't in production very long before the new model with the positive safety was introduced.

FWIW, note that that gun does not have the positive safety (hammer block) so it is best not to carry it with a round under the hammer.
