Colt New Navy civilian model

I recently acquired a Colt New Navy DA revolver, civilian model.. Are these chambered for the .38 Colt long cartridge?
Second the cylinder has a lot of play. Is this issue repairable?
It appears to have a double locking mechanism.
It's not a shooter right now, but would like to repair it.
Any ideas?
Thanks..

Those guns were originally made for .38 Long Colt, but after 1904, they were made for .38 Special, with shoulders in the chambers and barrels sized for .357" bullets. The civilian models were also made in .41 Colt and later in .32 WCF (.32-20).

While Colt modified the mechanism several times from 1892 on, they never really solved the problem of sloppy cylinder lockup, due in part to frequent breakage of the fragile spring that operated the cylinder stop.

Unfortunately, parts are not available for those guns, and gunsmiths who will work on them are thin on the ground (I know of none). Colt has no parts and will not take them in for repair.

I have a couple of these. A 41 Colt that is tight because it had so little use, and a 32-20 as loose as a goose. I have shot the 32-20 with hot H110 loads that top hatted the primer. I was lucky some Lead leak did not spatter out and get me.
