Colt LW Commander trigger questions

My LW Commander has this trigger (not my picture, but the one I saw that caused me to buy it):

Question #1: Is this the trigger the 1979 LW Commander came with? If not, what did it come with?

Question #2: Here is the trigger I want, what is it and how hard is it to get one and get it installed? This is my picture, sorry for the poor quality:

And, of course, can I do it myself?

The trigger is not original.

A 1979 Colt would have an all steel short trigger like the one in the second photo.
The trigger would be all blued steel with a grooved trigger face.

Unfortunately, these days it's almost impossible to find all steel trigger of any kind. Almost all triggers made these days have either aluminum finger pieces or plastic on a steel trigger bow, and almost all of them these days have adjustable trigger stops in them.

You can shop the gun shows and the gun auction sites for a real GI surplus or Colt commercial all steel short trigger, or advertise in the forum classified area to buy one.

Depending on the gun and the replacement trigger, triggers "usually" just drop in with no fitting. Note the "usually".
 
The trigger comes out of the back of the frame.
So everything in the frame must be removed.
If you are comfortable doing this, most triggers won't require much work to fit.
Just be sure there's no drag on the magazine.

I have acquired what I believe is the correct trigger and I am also trying to acquire the correct grip safety to replace the beavertail that is on it at present and will be looking for more authentic grips, as well.

I love TFL, it's the place to be when you're trying to raise your learning curve.

Few things to watch for when you replace trigger and grip safety - make sure the trigger bow is the same lenght, it doesn't bind in the frame and magazine doesn't bind going through.
The grip safety is fitted to the trigger bow so any difference in lenght might have impact on the grip safety engagement and also possibly to the disconector/sear/hammer relationship.
