Cabelas has a .44 Civillian steel frame revolver they are calling the Civillian Model. It has a nickled Backstrap.
I'd always read that the origonal Colt '51 Civillian was a .36 caliber with a nickeled Backstrap.
The .44 has good power, way harder shooting than a .36.
Was this a real model or another "invention" of the foreign manufacturers?

Colt never made an 1851 Navy that they called the 'Civilian Model'. All 1851 Navies were .36 caliber. Silver (not nickel) plated BS/TG was an optional finish as was blued iron and polished brass. This just another one of Pietta's marketing strategies.

What does BS/TG stand for?

Thanks,

Steve

Edit, nevermind, figured it out - backstrap and trigger guard. :)

" What does BS/TG stand for? "

BS = back strap -or- rear most portion of grip metal

TG = trigger guard
