Hello everyone

I have checked into an old pistol my grandpa left behind and have decided to let it go. I live in northern california and had it appraised by a local retailer. The price I have in mind is 450.00 US dollars and it comes with the original box in good condition along with the original registration card...bad grandpa...and cleaning info card. This huntsman has the walnut grips and is not "out of the box" condition but is well quite honestly just a step below that. That being said, I have 2 questions.
1. "Should I ask for a full 500.00?"
2." Without doing consignment or selling for 25% outright to a shop where is my best bet to advertise this?"

Thanks for reading
John

Thank you

Thank link was very helpful. I now know more about the pistol it is a 3rd series with a rough manufacture date of 1961 according to the site. I only saw 2 actual huntsmans on the gun broker site and find my asking price is a little low as well.

From the description of your Colt Huntsman, and then looking at what actually was bid on and sold on Gunbroker in similar condition, I found prices that ran from around $600 to $750.

You can always start out on the high end of the price ($750 perhaps) and then work your way down if it does not sell after some time.

I personally think $450 would be too cheap, and I know I would buy it from you for that price. The flip side of the coin is how bad do you want to get rid of it? You could sell it quickly at that price, maybe not so quick at $750 since its a huntsman, and not a woodsman or an older match target, nothing against a huntsman. If you're not desperate, I think $550 or $600 is fair. If you want to sell like yesterday, maybe go $500 tops and anyone who really knows what you have will buy it on the spot. Good luck.
